DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Professional Wildlife Monitoring. We continue to research and implement non-invasive monitoring to improve both the welfare of endangered species, and knowledge that directly contributes to protecting them more effectively. In 2022 WildTrack engaged with 15 partner universities on 35 active scientific field projects in 20 countries and 5 continents to deliver non-invasive species monitoring. We continued to develop new projects from 2021 including puma/jaguar in South America, three endangered species of otter in Asia, and lion/leopard projects in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique. As we emerged from the Pandemic our partners were able to collect more data from field sites. Our new AI database (ai.wildtrack.org) of footprints doubled in size to ~18,000 images and our user base tripled to 300 active data contributors with 60 species represented.$59$81,270
Conservation FIT. This program is specifically directed to help onboard citizen scientists to collect data, and at the same time learn how to monitor animals through tracking their signs. We tripled our user base to 300 active contributors of data and grew our constituent database from 500 to 800 supporters. We worked with a wide range of communities from indigenous San trackers in Botswana to PhD research students in the same country, America and Europe. We continued our work to collect reference library images with zoos. We worked with student teams at Harvard to expand our user interface and data handling on the AI platform which is now fully launched.-$21,224

IRS990ScheduleA/FactsAndCircumstancesTestTxt0Current Year Facts and Circumstances: WildTracks mission is to protect endangered species using a unique combination of advanced data analytics, artificial intelligence, and traditional ecological knowledge. Our innovative new model to tackle the global decline in species uses footprints as research data to support the conservation of wildlife species, preserve the biodiversity of Earth, and mitigate the illegal trafficking of products from endangered species.WildTracks public support percentage for the 5-year period ended December 31, 2022 was in excess of 24%.WildTrack, Inc. maintains a continuous and bona fide program for solicitation of funds from the general public. We have worked to grow our database of constituents in Bloomerang software, which now holds more than 850 constituents with whom we share a monthly newsletter to engage new support and attract funding. Our AI platform tripled in size, and now holds more than 18,000 images contributed by our user community. The scope of fundraising activities is reasonable in light of WildTracks charitable activities. Fundraising expenses in 2022 were approximately 13% of charitable expenses, with the majority of fundraising costs attributed to salaries and wages, and to payments to a contractor who assisted with social media outreach and fundraising. One staff member spends a portion of their time dedicated to fundraising efforts, which include identifying prospective funders, reaching out to make connections, submitting grant applications, and considering ways to maintain relationships with existing and potential funders who do work in our field. We have received significant support from large private foundations, government grants and from individuals and public charities to help continue to ramp up the organization.Public support is over 24%, which is well above the 10% minimum, and is much closer to the 33.33% benchmark than our 2021 percentage of 16.75%. Several grants already awarded in 2023 show that we are continuing to move in the direction of having a larger public support percentage each year.WildTracks support for the five-year period ended December 31, 2022 came from a variety of unrelated individuals, organizations, and foundations. Our efforts in this difficult year were rewarded by continuation of public grants through the US-Forest Service and the Max Planck Institute (a German nonprofit). We are talking to both institutions about new grants for 2023. In 2023 we have also secured two large public grants - the first from the Tswalu Foundation (a South African nonprofit), and from the US Army, both for research beginning late 2023. Both will contribute directly to our public support contributions.WildTracks board of directors comprises a wide range of professionals: lawyers, accountants, computer scientists, professors, and researchers. They bring considerable expertise and a variety of perspectives and experiences to their work with WildTracks governing body.In 2022 we continued to grow our WildTrack Specialist Group, a collection of more than 25 professional conservation biologists all over the world who all use our technology. Through this group we ran two successful public fundraising campaigns, the first for Giving Tuesday and the second a general campaign to help support WildTrack. We continued to broaden and diversify our academic partner base by growing our relationship with the computer science and software engineering departments at Harvard University. We plan to work with this university to attract funding towards supporting future projects with their students, which we are currently undertaking pro bono. We plan to work with this university to attract funding towards supporting future projects with their students, which we are currently undertaking pro bono. We are working to develop connections with other academic institutions as well.We continued to work towards improving our media outreach, with a new website, a new AI app for public collection of
