It is the philosophy of the organization to establish a compensation package for each individual that reflects the median of the market as established by the outside consultant.

Per the audited financial statements of john muir physician network, "the network is a nonprofit public benefit corporation and has been recognized as exempt from federal income taxation pursuant to section 510(c)(3) of the internal revenue code as an organization described in section 509(a)(1) of the internal revenue code. However, the network is subject to income taxes on any net income that is derived from a trade or business and not in furtherance of the purposes for which it was granted exemption. No income tax provision has been recorded as the net income, if any, from any unrelated trade or business, in the opinion of management, is not material to the financial statements taken as a whole. The network recognizes the effect of income tax positions only if those positions are more likely than not of being sustained. Recognized income tax positions are measured using the largest amount that exceeds a 50% probability of being realized. Changes in recognition or measurement are reflected in the period in which the change in estimate occurs."

AS PART OF ITS OPERATIONS, JOHN MUIR PHYSICIAN NETWORK OPERATES A MEDICARE ACCOUNTABLE ORGANIZATION, WHICH BRINGS TOGETHER GROUPS OF PROVIDERS WHO AGREE TO COORDINATE CARE FOR MEDICARE FEE-FOR-SERVICE BENEFICIARIES AND BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE QUALITY AND COST OF THEIR CARE (THROUGH A SYSTEM OF QUALITY METRICS AND SHARED SAVINGS).
