Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The california press foundation raises funds through tax deductible contributions for educational purposes related to the publishing and information dissemination business. Its mission, revised in november 2013, is to serve california's newspaper readers by supporting and financially assisting california high schools and colleges to teach quality journalism that is also responsive to changing technology and consumer preferences. The california press foundation provides financial assistance to college students seeking careers in journalism, advertising or marketing, and to campus newspapers that desperately need new production equipment. The foundation also supports educational services including newspaper in education programs and training programs related to the california newspaper business.

Guarding the history and traditions of california journalism, to recognize and honor exemplary achievements, to assure the future of california journalism through encouragement of education and to provide a social and education forum for its members.
