“CVNL is exempt from taxation under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 23701d. Generally accepted accounting principles provide accounting and disclosure guidance about positions taken by an organization in its tax returns that might be uncertain. Management has considered its tax positions and believes that all of the positions taken by CVNL in its federal and state exempt organization tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained upon examination. CVNL's returns are subject to examination by federal and state taxing authorities, generally for three and four years, respectively, after they are filed.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Nonprofits throughout Marin, Napa, Sonoma, Solano and the surrounding Bay Area rely on CVNL for expert guidance, professional and organizational development, and nonprofit management expertise through Volunteer Services, Leadership Programs, Executive Search, and Consulting Services.In 2019, CVNL's Learning & Leadership department served a total of 456 professionals through a collection of leadership training programs and professional development curriculum. 17 leaders in Spring 2019 graduated the Excellence in Leadership Program, formerly called the Emerging Leaders Program. The Library Resource Center, used by nonprofit professionals to conduct grant research, now features access to GrantStation and 15 organizations have utilized our discounted partnership program to strengthen their fund development planning process.CVNL's Executive Search department placed seven senior level positions and two interim directors in organizations throughout the Bay Area.CVNL's Consulting Services advanced the capabilities of more than 57 organizations through consultation, coaching and training on issues related to board governance, organizational assessment, fund development, executive coaching, organizational planning and meeting facilitation, among others. We also provided technical assistance and episodic guidance to dozens more organizations. CVNL had an active membership pool of 274 members to whom we provided an array of services and benefits including discounts on educational training sessions. Produced by CVNL, the 26th Annual Heart of Marin Awards recognized outstanding Marin nonprofits and the committed individuals who served throughout the previous year. The luncheon was attended by nearly 650 community leaders, volunteers, local dignitaries and distinguished members of the business community. Our honored recipients were presented with awards totaling $35,000. Similarly, the Annual Heart of Napa Awards were successfully executed for a 4th year. Nearly 290 were in attendance and $22,500 was awarded to outstanding nonprofits and leaders serving Napa County.CVNL acts as a fiscal sponsor for projects seeking to address compelling community-wide needs. Four projects were sponsored this year: Marin VOAD, Opening Doors Marin, and Powerful Beyond Measure. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc | 0 | CVNL's Volunteer Services operates throughout the North Bay by engaging volunteers, businesses, nonprofits, community groups and individuals in service. 2019 was filled with both new and ongoing projects including overseeing our Bay Area Volunteers matching database, placing and managing AmeriCorps members dedicated to strengthening volunteer program infrastructure in Bay Area nonprofits, and contributing to community recovery efforts after the 2019 Kincade Fire. CVNL directly placed approximately 8,144 volunteers at local nonprofits and government agencies, and over 35,394 potential volunteers viewed available volunteer opportunities on BayAreaVolunteers.org. Through national and local days of service, CVNL managed projects on Marin Luther King, Jr. Day which engaged over 1,381 volunteers in Napa and Family Volunteer Day which engaged over 125 volunteers in Solano. The Corporate Engagement Program facilitated 4 service projects that engaged more than 1,096 corporate employees in service projects benefitting nonprofits throughout the Bay Area. CVNL also trained and consulted with nonprofits to help them elevate their levels of volunteer engagement. |
