“Continued international community development detail: in 2017, convoy of hope distributed over 42 million meals to more than 177,000 children in 11 program countries, educated over 79,582 children and parents on nutrition, hygiene, and/or sanitation, conducted 48,005 individual training sessions covering hygiene, hand washing, dental care, diet diversity, food storage, breast feeding, disease control, budgeting, women's health and values. Trained 3,826 individuals in agriculture, and worked with over 2,788 women and girls in health and empowerment trainings, 655 of which participated in income generating projects. The organization assisted 478 communities and schools with gardens. Convoy of hope had 11,095 volunteers internationally giving 1,125,557 volunteer hours to assist with projects. (unaudited). In addition to ongoing normal operational activities, groups in 8 countries were assisted in helping displaced people due to violence in their home countries. Assistance ranged from early family care kits, clothing, meals, and hygiene essentials. In addition, the organization conducts field teams to help accomplish program goals and give those outside the organization opportunities to serve around the world. In 2017, 58 field teams, comprised than 879 volunteers from churches, universities and/or other groups or organizations, served in 5 countries, including the united states. Field team projects include such things as construction/building, refurbishing schools, churches, and program centers, and assisting in agriculture-based projects (unaudited). Domestic community involvement- the organization resources, trains and empowers churches throughout the united states so they can enhance their presence and help strengthen their communities. The goal is to mobilize and empower churches, local partners and other civic leaders in serving impoverished sectors of their communities to help elevate the financial, social and physical needs of their neighbors. In 2017, convoy of hope resourced, empowered, and partnered with rural churches through training, mentoring and coaching to enhance local presence and help strengthen communities. Convoy of hope conducted 101 pastoral trainings, distributed over 90,769 pairs of shoes, and served 1,201 churches to include almost 96,000 guests of honor. (unaudited). Form 990, part iii, line 4d description of other program services: community events/outreach - the organization provides guests of honor with unconditional love and acceptance through the mobilization, training, and resourcing of volunteers from local churches, businesses, and communities. Inner city outreach events, primarily conducted in the united states, feature cost-free resources such as medical and dental screenings, haircuts, food, job placement assistance, connection to local churches and community organizations, entertainment and groceries. During 2017, convoy of hope conducted 24 community outreaches across 21 u.s. Cities. In doing so, convoy of hope provided groceries, health screenings and more to over 83,000 guests, mobilized over 1,700 churches/organizations and engaged more than 22,000 volunteers (unaudited).”
