“The goal of the nor'wester therapy dogs- canine partners in education program is to use approved therapy dog teams to work cooperatively with public school teachers to support and build student motivation, enhance focus, and increase task persistance. The presence of our therapy dog teams will offer a stress-free learning environment, which will increase student self-esteem and confidence.”

“Since the december 2007 launch of nor'wester therapy dog's pilot program in the council rock school district, bucks county, pennsylvania, the organization now provides therapy dog teams to 6 school districts (bensalem, centennial, council rock, pennsbury, new hope solebury and upper dublin), 2 private schools (warwick house and center school), and 2 public libraries (free library of northampton township and southampton free library). The organization is also cooperating with bccc (newtown campus) and is offering the comfort dogs on campus program this year. Now in its twelfth year of providing therapy dog services to approximately 55 participating teachers/classrooms, the nor'wester organization currently has 48 active therapy dog handlers serving in school classrooms, at bccc, and two public libraries.”
