FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Palm beach dramaworks is a professional not-for-profit theatre company that engages and entertains audiences with provocative and timeless productions that personally impact each individual. Our vision is to enhance the quality of life through the transformative power of live theatre.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4C

Approximately 10% of our effort is spent on student educational. Initiatives, including in-school master classes on acting and playwriting, and apprenticeship and intern programs for theatre students. Six special student performances of our productions were held at no charge serving 830 students from 15 area schools with transportation also provided. Additionally, 150 students were given free or reduced priced tickets to regularly scheduled performances. Interested students were offered positions to work as apprentices assisting directors, stage managers, light and sound operators, and prop and costume mistresses. Students also had the opportunity to audition and receive guidance from theatre professionals to polish audition techniques, including monologues and song presentations. We held a young playwright's festival in which 10-minute plays were solicited from students at all palm beach county schools. 27 plays were submitted, and 10 were selected as "winners" to receive a staged reading of their play with professional actors and directors along with a 250.00 award a published copy of their script. We presented a play called swagger at 24 middle schools for 8,284 student attendees, and created and presented a play called live to tell at 4 middle schools for 799 student attendees.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

The dramawise adult enrichment series gave public presentations of curated discussions of each main-stage play followed by panel discussions with the production team. There were 3 offerings/175 attendees. These forums allowed for public comment, discussion and education.
