“In June 2016, PHA underwent a change in leadership, appointing a new president and CEO. After a subsequent comprehensive and detailed financial analysis and review of PHA operations, a significant 2016 operating loss (approximately $2.5 million) was projected for both PHA and PHCC, Inc. To achieve our mission and ultimately realize our vision, PHA provided the following program services and accomplished the following in 2016:ADVOCACY, SUPPORT, AND QUALITY CARE:Advocate for the PH Community - Helped members of the PH community send more than 2,000 messages to members of Congress, regulators, and payers to educate them about PH, living with PH, and the impact of healthcare policies and regulations on them. Raised awareness within the public through PR efforts to the media, social media, PHANews, and phassociation.org which reached more than 15 million people.Empower Patients and Caregivers -Provided in-person support and virtual services, including 230 support groups hosting approximately 750 meetings, an 800 helpline, my PHA and PHA Classroom online resources, local educational meetings, and print resources, to more than 6,000 patients and caregivers. Held biennial PHA International Conference and Scientific Sessions that provided education and networking opportunities for more than 1,400 attendees.Promote Quality Patient Care -Provided more than 2,700 health care providers with CME/CE education through our Preceptorship, On-Demand, Scientific Sessions, and Online University programs. Grew the number of PHA accredited PHCCs to 45 nationwide and the number of PHCC sites participating in the PHA Registry to 12. |
