This central office is maintained, supervised, and supported by these groups for their general interest. To exist as an AA Service Office (Central Office) established to carry out certain functions common to all local AA Groups served. This Central Office is maintained, supervised, and supported by these groups for their general interest. It exists to aid the groups in their common purpose of carrying the AA message to the alcoholic who stills suffers. The particular Central Office serves Jefferson and Shelby County (District 1 & 7) in Area 1 of the National Structure of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Central Office accomplishes its purposes by providing cthe following support/services:

1. AA Inquiries - Provide a listing in the local telephone directory to receive and respond to inquiries from those seeking help. Referrals to local AA Groups are provided to callers; whereby further help may be obtained by the caller.

2. Office Faclities - Maintains a centrally located office in the metro area in which the AA message may be carried to the suffering alcoholic. This offcie provides the telephone services for the locally listed telephone number. An inventory of authorized AA books and Publications, obtained from AA World Services Office in Ny, NY; is made available for purchase by the individual alcoholic and/or the local AA Home Groups.

3. Meeting Lists - Maintain a central listing of all AA Groups in the local area. A directory of all AA groups is published and distributed. These directories provide AA meeting locations, meeting days and meeting times of all local groups.

Steering Committe Structure - The Steering Committee consist of 9 members. These members are all recovering alcoholics. Each member belongs to one of the local AA Home Groups served by the Central Office. Each October the Steering Committee receives nominations from the local AA Groups for new members to the Steering Committee to be elected by the current sitting Steering Committee members. The service term for each member is 3 years. At the end of each calendar year the 3 older members "rotate off" the Steering Committee and 3 newly elected members "rotate onto" the Steering Committee. There are no compensated members of the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee operates in accordance to the written By Laws of the Organization.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1To exist as an AA Service Office (Central Office) established to carry out certain functions common to all local AA Groups served. This Central Office is maintained, supervised, and supported by these groups for their general interest. It exists to aid the groups in their common purpose of carrying the AA message to the alcoholic who stills suffers. The particular Central Office serves Jefferson and Shelby County (District 1 & 7) in Area 1 of the National Structure of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Central Office accomplishes its purposes by providing cthe following support/services:

Office Faclities - Maintains a centrally located office in the metro area in which the AA message may be carried to the suffering alcoholic. This offcie provides the telephone services for the locally listed telephone number. An inventory of authorized AA books and Publications, obtained from AA World Services Office in Ny, NY; is made available for purchase by the individual alcoholic and/or the local AA Home Groups.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt10Steering Committe Structure - The Steering Committee consist of 9 members. These members are all recovering alcoholics. Each member belongs to one of the local AA Home Groups served by the Central Office. Each October the Steering Committee receives nominations from the local AA Groups for new members to the Steering Committee to be elected by the current sitting Steering Committee members. The service term for each member is 3 years. At the end of each calendar year the 3 older members "rotate off" the Steering Committee and 3 newly elected members "rotate onto" the Steering Committee. There are no compensated members of the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee operates in accordance to the written By Laws of the Organization.
