“To exist as an AA Service Office (Central Office) established to carry out certain functions common to all local AA Groups served. This Central Office is usually maintained, supervised and supported by these groups for their general interest. It exists to aid the groups in their common pirposes of carrying the AA message to the alcoholic who still suffers. This paricular Central Office serves the Jefferson and Shelby Counties (District 6 and District 7), in Area 1 of the National Structure of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Central Offcie accomplishes its purposes by providing the following support/services: 1. AA Inquires - Provides a listing in the local telphone directory to receive and respond to inquires from those seeking help. Referrals to Local AA Groups are provided to callers; whereby further help may be obtained by the caller. 2. Office Facilities - Maintains a centrally located office in the metro area in which the AA message may be carried to the suffering alcoholic. This office provides the telephone services for the locally listed telephone numbers. An Inventory of authorized AA Books and Publications, obtained from AA World Services Offcie in NY, NY, is made available for purchase by the individual alcoholic and/or the local AA Home Groups. 3. Meeting Lists - Maintains andf keep a central listing of all AA Groups in the local area. A directory of all AA Groups is published and distributed. These directories provide AA meeting locations, meeting days and meeting times of the local groups. 4. Information Exchange - Provides circulation and exchange of the information to the local AA Groups regarding local (District 6 & District 7), Area 1 and AA World Wide Activities. 5. Information Point of Contact for the Professional Community (medical, law, & courts); as well as to the Correctional and treatment Facilities. 6. Local AA Events - Coordinate and manage annual events for the local AA Groups (to support the Central Office) 7. Local Newsletter - Publishes and distributes a Monthly Information Newsletter titled "Pass It On".”

“Steering Committee Structure The Steering Committee consists of 9 members. These members are all recovering alcoholics. each member belongs to one of the Local AA Home Group's that the Central Offcie serves.. The steering committee members are nominated by (and from) the local groups and voted upon by the sitting Steering Committee Members.The servcie term of each member is 3 years. At the end of each calendar year, the 3 oldest term members "rotate off" the committee and 3 new members "rotate onto" the committee. THERE ARE NO CONPENSATED MEMBERS OF THE STEERING COMMITTEE. The Steering Committee operates in accordance to the written BY Laws of the organizatio.”
