Mission

Apartment Association of Greater Knoxville furthers the development of the multi-family housing industry by providing membership to individuals and associate firms engaged in activities related to the planning, construction, maintenance, management, and ownership of multi-family housing. Members gather, exchange, and disseminate technical data in order to provide the industry with more and better multi-family housing. The Association encourages a better housing environment by consulting with government officials in the drafting and enactment of laws and regulations.

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS ARE HELD APPROXIMATELY FIVE OR SIX TIMES A YEAR TO DISCUSS VARIOUS MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING ISSUES. LUNCHEON AND BREAKFAST MEETINGS ARE HELD APPROXIMATELY FIVE OR SIX TIMES A YEAR FOR APARTMENT MANAGERS AND MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL TO EDUCATE THEM IN VARIOUS WAYS. AAGK PREPARES A COMPREHENSIVE MARKET SURVEY TWO TIMES ANNUALLY WHICH IS GIVEN FREE OF CHARGE TO HUD AT THEIR REQUEST. AAGK CONDUCTS A CERTIFIED APARTMENT MANAGER COURSE, WHICH TEACHES APARTMENT MANAGERS EVERYTHING FROM HUMAN RELATIONS TO THE ECONOMICS OF THE INDUSTRY. THIS PROGRAM IS CONDUCTED ON AN ANNUAL BASIS AS NEEDED. AAGK SPONSORS SEVERAL SEMINARS INCLUDING A LANDLORD TENANT LAW SEMINAR AND A SEMINAR FOR MANAGERS AND MAINTENANCE COVERING CUSTOMER SERVICE, LEASING APARTMENTS, FAIR HOUSING, HVAC, AND A CERTIFIED POOL OPERATOR COURSE. AAGK CONDUCTS A CERTIFICATE FOR APARTMENT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN COURSE WHICH TEACHES CLASSES IN BASIC ELECTRICAL, APPLIANCE REPAIR, HVAC, AND INDOOR AND OUTDOOR REPAIRS.
