“To establish a formal relationship to strengthen ties between niigata prefecture and the state of hawaii. The organization is formed to educate the public on subjects useful to the individual and beneficial to the community and to promote culture. Our organization has designed and developed one program in furtherance of our purpose. Our program is entitled hawaii-niigata, inc. We further our purposes under this program by fostering positive international relations between the prefecture of niigata, japan and the state of hawaii, usa through youth baseball and other cultural activities. The program will conduct youth goodwill baseball games between niigata and hawaii on an annual basis with the location of the games alternating each year between niigata and hawaii. Baseball clinics will be conducted locally and abroad to enhance the educational aspect of the sport. We will also provide cultural and educational experiences for the visiting and host teams from japan and the hawaii teams that will travel. We believe it is important to build and strengthen the ties between hawaii and niigata because we can create cultural, educational and economic opportunities between the two states, which have many similarities. Many of hawaii's families originated and emigrated from niigata, japan approximately 100 years ago. This exchange program will provide them the opportunity to also learn about their ancestry and family origins while introducing them to their native culture.”
