Mission

To organize, promote and manage the pop-tarts bowl and use such game to increase community spirit and pride, promote tourism and stimulate the local economy while ultimately benefitting charities, educational institutions and the florida citrus sports foundation.

Tangerine sports association is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing community spirit and pride, promoting tourism, stimulating economic development and ultimately benefiting charities, educational institutions and the quality of life in central florida by managing the pop-tarts bowl. Since its first bowl game, it is estimated that tangerine sports association has helped thousands of at-risk youth in central florida through the florida citrus sports foundation mvp programs.

Florida citrus sports events, inc. Provides management services to the organization to operate the pop-tarts bowl, including the negotiation of contracts, collection of revenues and payment of expenses.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

Any person over 18 years of age or business entity interested in furthering the purposes of the organization and having paid the annual membership fee may be admitted to membership in the corporation. All past presidents of the corporation shall be permanent members of the corporation and there shall be no membership fee paid by, or required for, such past presidents. The following organizations shall hold a membership in the corporation and may designate one representative to serve as its member in the corporation: (a) the city of orlando, florida (b) orange county, florida (c) orlando/orange county convention & visitors bureau, inc. (d/b/a visit orlando) (d) central florida hotel and lodging association

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7A

The board of directors includes: 1. No more than 30 persons who are elected by the board of directors and must be members of the corporation and have served as an associate director during the prior 12 month period; 2. One person designated by each of the following organizations or entities: (i) the city of orlando, florida (ii) orange county, florida (iii) orlando/orange county convention and visitors bureau (iv) central florida hotel and lodging association (provided, however, that the person designated by the central florida hotel and lodging association shall be a non-voting director); (c) the chairman of the board of the corporation, the president of the corporation, the president-elect of the corporation, the immediate two past chairmen of the board of the corporation, and the general counsel of the corporation (all of whom shall be members of the board of directors by virtue of position); (d) the director of the city of orlando centroplex; and 3. The chief executive officer of the corporation shall be an ex officio member of the board of directors. If a director position becomes vacant for any reason, the president, with the approval of the officers, may select a successor director to serve as a director for the unexpired term of the director whose position became vacant.
