“Part III Statement of Program Accomplishments The Mission of the Greater Largo Library Foundation is to support the Largo Public Library through cultivating funding resources and advocating for the library to enhance innovative library services for the community's educational and social enrichment. The Foundation provided the following to accomplish this goal. A new vehicle was donated for Home Delivery Service from a good friend to our community. This allows library outreach services to provide door to door service to people. The Library in Your Neighborhood Bookmobile, affectionately known as LYN has (13 stops) and Home Delivery Service door to door service has (13 stops) serving (31 individual) home delivery people. The Foundation received funding in perpetuity from a good friend to our community for the beautification of the Community Butterfly Garden, located in the courtyard of the Largo Public Library. The garden provides library patrons with an enhanced area to read, relax and learn about plants and butterflies. Continued services for library patrons include English Language leaning, grants for students who graduate from Largo Public Library's Career Online High School and enroll in college/trade school, mobility scooters, story porch listening stations for children and bookshelves in the children area. During this fiscal year GLLF received a $15,000 grant from a local foundation to purchase a Charlie Cart for the Largo Public Library. The Charlie Cart is a mobile kitchen which provides all-in-one hands-on food education programs for any learning environment. Casey McPhee, Library Director had the idea to address food insecurities by offering programs to library patrons such as the Charlie Cart Project that teach the skills necessary to prepare healthy meals. The Charlie Cart Project is a high impact, scalable program for hands-on cooking education that activates lifelong passions for healthy eating.”
