“Part III Statement of Program Service Accomplishments: The Mission of the Greater Largo Library Foundation is to support the Largo Public Library through cultivating funding resources and advocating for the enhancement of innovative library services for the communitys educational and social enrichment. During the fiscal year, the Foundation has accomplished the following successes. The home delivery community outreach vehicle continues to provide door-to-door delivery of library materials that have been requested by patrons who are unable to access the bookmobile or the library. The bookmobile continues to meet the needs of library patrons (children and adults) who are unable to physically come to the library. The Free to Read Fund, a new initiative dedicated to expanding access to books and resources for everyone in our community. The fund sustained through community donations will help fill important gaps in the Largo Public Librarys collections, based on the needs and requests of our patrons. The Greater Largo Library Foundation continues to maintain the Community Butterfly Garden with donor, located in the courtyard of the Largo Public Library with donor support. The garden provides library patrons with an enhanced area to read, relax, and learn about plants and butterflies. Continued services/programs include English Language Learning Program, Citizenship Classes and Career Online High School scholarships play a crucial role in promoting lifelong learning for patrons. Students who graduate from Largo Public Librarys Career Online High School and enroll in college/trade school are eligible to receive grants from the Foundation. Ongoing support continues for mobility scooters, story porch listening stations for children, and bookshelves in the children area.”
