Exhibitions: the art center presents an annual schedule of changing contemporary art exhibitions featuring emerging and established artists admission-free throughout our galleries, with most works available for purchase by the public. Highlights from this season included golf in american art with works by regional and nationally recognized artists such as leroy neiman, will barnet and gary irby; the international association of pastel societies annual exhibition; the annual juried exhibition, art encounter 2007 with works by artists living throughout the state of florida; and sharing culture: works from the von liebig art center's collection. Naa promotes over 400 artist members through its monthly juried members' gallery exhibitions and other members exhibitions. The art center's jade riedel scholarship competition for high school juniors and seniors awards six $1,000 scholarships and provides a juried exhibition of submitted works. In addition, the art center provides off-site exhibitions in conjunction with physicians regional medical center as part of the hospital's arts in healing program. Each year, the center presents a four month exhibition by artscool students at naples city hall. Overall, our exhibitions were viewed by more than 45,000 people. Art festivals: annual naa art festivals include the art in the park series, which features naa artist members in six monthly festivals from november through april. Art in the park celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. Naa's 28th annual naples national art festival maintained its ranking among the top 10 art festivals nationwide. A thanksgiving weekend festival was relocated from east naples to 10th street south downtown and renamed the naples renaissance fall art festival, tying it to a proposed nearby development called the renaissance village. This invitational festival for artists from across the country was well received in its new location. Overall, more than 50,000 people visited naa festivals.special events: organizational goals included creating collecting opportunities for art patrons, and this was accomplished with hunt slonem: from his collection to yours and the samuel edmund oppenheim retrospective. Both events were developed support to benefit education programs at the art center. Naa hosted our second goddess night to celebrate womens contributions to society and a second appraisal day to help community members identify the value of their treasures. Overall, these events drew approximately 1,000 participants
