“Under the workforce investment & opportunity act, federal funds are awarded in a joint state and local administered workforce development system. Cobb county government is the grant recipient of the wioa funds from the state of georgia and cobbworks, inc. Is the subrecipient contracted by the county to administer the wioa programs. In accordance with statutory regulations, the programs must be governed by the workforce development board (wdb), whose members are appointed by the chief local elected official. Cobbworks, inc. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, 205 ADULTS AND 79 DISLOCATED WORKERS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR INDIVIDUAL TRAINING PROGRAMS. SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF OUR ADULTS AND NEARLY 86% OF THE DISLOCATED WORKERS (NOT NECESSARILY THE SAME INDIVIDUALS COMPLETING PROGRAMS IN THE CURRENT YEAR) WERE PLACED INTO EMPLOYMENT. WE LAUNCHED THE GO BUILD COBB INITIATIVE IN COLLABORATION WITH TWO PARTNERS, WHICH IS A 4-WEEK INTENSIVE CONSTRUCTION SKILLS TRAINING CLASS WITH JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE. IN THIS INAUGURAL YEAR, WE HELD 5 TRAINING CYCLES IN WHICH WE ACCEPTED 84 PARTICIPANTS, GRADUATED 74, AND PLACED 65 INTO EMPLOYMENT. |
