IRS990/Desc0For the year ended June 30, 2022, TCDA operated the following programs:(i)Courses The standard, developmental Courses that TCDA operates include the following: New Board Member Orientation/Governance, Community Engagement, Interfacing with Elected Officials,Budget and Finance, and a host of elected workshops, including Roberts Rules of Order, Public Speaking, and TECH talks.(ii)Leadership Training Conference - TCDA hosts a statewide leadership conference for all college presidents, local board members, and college staff to better acquaint the post-secondary community with advances in career paths and student success. Guest speakers include noted speakers in the fields of education, future career trends, new technologies including artificial intelligence and deep fakes, campus security, and state and federal legislation affecting post-secondary education. The 2022 leadership conference saw presentations from the creators of Smart Socks, Moxie the robotic nursing assistant, brain-computer interface chips, Rivian (electric truck maker), and a host of other future technologies.(iii)Fact Book & Directory and Newsletter - The TCDA Fact Book and Board Directory serves as a marketing tool for the colleges profiling the prominent individuals who serve on the Technical College System of Georgia State Board and the local boards of directors. It contains contact information on all current board members and alumni and informs the public of the industry leaders who volunteer their time and expertise in order to make the Technical College System of Georgia the premier two-year college system in the nation. TCDA has colleges that are nationally ranked due to their unique training programs.TCDAs semi-annual newsletter is used as a communication and information tool to advise current and former board members, as well as State Board members, college presidents, and staff, on current issues of concern in education, be it Pell Grant renewal, Dual Enrollment, or Complete College Georgia, and trends we see emerging in the nation. For example, flying taxis are scheduled to be used in the 2024 Olympics. As such the State of Georgia has budgeted funds to help create and deliver the electric batteries that are needed for future flying transportation models. (iv)Technical College System of Georgia State Meetings - In accordance with Georgia Statues 20-4-10, the Technical College System of Georgia has an appointed State Board of 23 individuals responsible for the courses and direction of the 22 colleges in the TCSG system. It is their responsibility to ensure that all colleges provide world-class careers that are both current and wellpositioned for the next century. All TCSG colleges are SACS accredited and must remain so in order for degrees to transfer to the four-year university system.Local boards of directors are mandated by Georgia State Law 20-4-11 to assist and act as an extension to the State Board of Directors. The TCDA is responsible for training and developing the 22 local boards of directors to comply with and assist the State Board in its mission. The total number of board members ranges from 230 300 in any given year. The TCDA, in its role as educators of the local boards, helps to support both the State Board and local boards through annual meetings and dissemination of critical information necessary for the success of the colleges. Such events include the ten State Board meetings, the annual leadership conference, Student and Adult Learners of the Year Programs, and the annual State of the System address from the TCSG Commissioner. Where TCDA programs impact the message, TCDA will provide literature, speakers, technology, or food to assist with the particular function. Example for the Student of the Year in 2022, TCDA offered technology to the winner to enable them to continue their bachelors degree at an accredited Georgia University.
