Financial Statement Notes

PART IV, LINE 2B:

Marbles was awarded a multi-agency grant in fiscal year 2016 for the kaleidoscope project (formerly known as the intentional and effective places and spaces for children's positive mental health project) the project is being conducted by four organizations, including marbles kids museum. Marbles serves as an agent of the total grant funds and is to disburse funds to the participating organizations as directed by the funder. Marbles records cash received, but not disbursed to other organizations as an asset and liability. Total funds received, but not disbursed as of june 30, 2019 and june 30,2018 totaled $300,088 and $98,020, respectively, and are reflected in the statements of financial position as other assets - agency transaction and other liabilities - agency transaction.

PART X, LINE 2:

Marbles kids museum is a nonprofit organization exempt from federal income taxes under section 50l(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (irc). It has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under section 509(a)(3) of the irc. If applicable, penalties and interest assessed by income taxing authorities related to unrecognized tax positions are included as miscellaneous expenses in the statements of activities and changes in net assets. There were no interest or penalties recorded in the financial statements for the years ended june 30, 2019 and 2018, respectively.

IT'S HANDS-ON, MINDS-ON FUN, AS WELL AS A REMINDER TO FAMILIES ABOUT THE ABUNDANCE OF OUTDOOR RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES NEARBY. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)THE MARBLES MISSION IS TO SPARK IMAGINATION, DISCOVERY, AND LEARNING THROUGH PLAY. CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO 138 CHILDREN FROM LOW INCOME FAMILIES THROUGH OUR MARBLES FULL CIRCLE ACCESS AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS, WHICH ALSO PROVIDED OVER 35,400 FREE MUSEUM VISITS FOR TRADITIONALLY UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS, ENSURING ALL CHILDREN HAVE ACCESS TO MARBLES, DESPITE FINANCIAL OR PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS. MORE THAN 6,900 CHILDREN VISITED MARBLES IN FY19 THROUGH OUR PLAYFREE MUSEUM ACCESS PROGRAM SERVING AT-RISK TITLE I AND PRESCHOOL GROUPS. PLAY LATE FOR LESS EXTENDED HOURS FOR WORKING FAMILIES SERVED ALMOST 20,900 VISITORS IN FY19. KICKOFF TO KINDERGARTEN, A FREE EVENT FOR RISING KINDERGARTENERS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO PRACTICE THIS IMPORTANT TRANSITION MILESTONE SERVED OVER 4,100 GUESTS. FAMILY FUN NIGHT, A BIMONTHLY EVENT FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND THEIR FAMILIES, PROVIDED SPECIAL PROGRAMMING AND ACTIVITIES FOR 1,600 GUESTS. IN ADDITION, MORE THAN 5,100 FAMILY ADMISSION PASSES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO NONPROFIT AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS SERVING FAMILIES IN NEED, ENABLING THEM TO EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF PLAY TOGETHER AT MARBLES. IN FY19, MARBLES WAS NAMED THE BEST PLACE TO ENTERTAIN KIDS BY MIDTOWN MAGAZINE AND STEM COMMUNITY-SERVING ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR AT THE 2019 STEMMY AWARDS HOSTED BY STEM IN THE PARK.
