ORGANIZATIONAL FUNDS HAVE BEEN USED TO FUEL THE RESEARCH ENTERPRISE OF AU, PRIMARILY THROUGH THE RECRUITMENT OF AND FUNDING FOR SENIOR CLINICAL INVESTIGATORS AND PHYSICIAN SCIENTISTS. ACCUMULATED FUNDS OF THE ORGANIZATION ARE USED BY THE DEAN OF THE AU MEDICAL COLLEGE OF GEORGIA, AND ITS CLINICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENTS, TO SUPPLEMENT FUNDING FOR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OF THE SCHOOL. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2017, 38% OF THE MEDICAL CARE PROVIDED BY THE ORGANIZATION'S MEMBERS AND EMPLOYED PHYSICIANS WAS TO UNINSURED AND UNDERINSURED CITIZENS OF GEORGIA AND SOUTH CAROLINA.
