Mission and Program Overview

Mission

-increase charitable giving to those in need. -promote civic interest and community involvement through interactive culture.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Bolder giving - combining inspiration and action, bolder giving seeks nothing less than to shift our collective culture of giving. Bolder giving deeply believes that each of us has the capacity to give far beyond the charitable norms of today! Specifically, our aim is to encourage people of all backgrounds to: -give more - increasing their giving as a percent of income, assets or business profits. -risk more - shifting how they give by exploring opportunities to give collaboratively, to communities besides their own, to social change and entrepreneurial efforts, and more. -inspire more - sparking discussions about giving with others and sharing their giving stories to offer a catalyst for new conversations.program services offered by bolder giving in fy11, to achieve this mission, included:online presence: bolder giving hired platform strategy in early fy11 to re-design the bolder giving website. The new website was launched at the start of fy12. The new website has an expanded media room and a blog and increased functionality and capacity to handle many more visitors. New video clips and profiles/bios featuring bold givers were added throughout fy11 and continue to be added in fy12. Www.boldergiving.org.also during fy11, platform strategy designed a website for more than money, where past more than money journals could be viewed and downloaded. Www.morethanmoney.org launched in early fy12.in early fy11, bolder giving focused on our social media work and we now have a robust and regular posting schedule on facebook and twitter and our traffic has been slowly but steadily growing. Program partnerships: this was a major area of work in fy11. Bolder giving launched two major new partnership efforts around syndication and programming. We had 7 syndication partners lined up at the end of fy11 (3 running now and 4 initiated in fy12) and 3 prospects for follow up. We had 4 program partners lined up (2 active and 2 in final negotiations) at the end of fy11, with 10 prospects in exploratory phase.outreach: promoting bold giving: media: bolder giving secured a variety of quality features in fy11, both through pro-active work and some great unexpected connections. These included pieces in the chronicle of philanthropy (8 pieces), inc magazine, martha stewart's whole living, meridian magazine, asia magazine (2 pieces), and more. We worked with platform strategy in fy11 to develop a forward looking media strategy. We worked closely with the gates foundation team on both their summer 2010 and winter 2011 giving pledge announcements and were the only group coordinating with them. In both cases we released press releases one hour after they did and secured considerable high-quality coverage as a result. Throughout fy11, bolder giving secured somewhere between 10-20 top-line hits and a total of over 70 media hits since the launch of the gates grant in early fy11.monthly spotlights: bolder giving's monthly conference calls and chats, now called our "bold giver monthly spotlights" became one of our central activities in fy11. They proved themselves to be a great addition to our work - a regular program that allows us to always have an upcoming opportunity for people to connect with our work and a chance to share a varied set of stories with a diverse set of audiences. Our calls in fy11 drew in 40-100+ callers each month and the web chats we did in partnership with the chronicle on philanthropy drew in between 60-100 viewers with 600-1,000 people viewing the web transcripts afterwards.speaking engagements: we secured over a dozen opportunities in fy11, including keynotes at advisors in philanthropy, the national symposium on family philanthropy, and the foundation school in bologna, italy. Our goal for fy12 is to maintain on average 2-3 presentations per month, including both in-person and online opportunities.publications:more than money (mtm) journals: all copies of the mtm journals were scanned in and re-designed in fy11. We made 6 compilation
