Mission

Dignity housing association, inc. Is a not-for-profit corporation formed in accordance with the not-for-profit statutes of the state of south carolina. The corporation was formed for the purpose of operating two communities known as dignity village (28 units) and palmer place (30 units) located in sumter, south carolina and camden, south carolina, respectively, which provide housing for low income elderly persons. The corporation receives housing assistance from the u.s. Department of housing and urban development under section 207 pursuant to section 223(f) of the national housing act, as amended.

Governance Explanations

The organization has entered into a management agreement with a management company for day-to-day management of the apartment communities as is common practice for owners/operators of hud-assisted rental communities. The management contract encompasses the day to day operations of the project including, but not limited to, collection of rents, maintenance of facilities, supervision of staff, and ongoing support for both the owners and tenants as needed in order to establish a safe, sanitary and affordable environment.

The return is prepared by a certified public accounting firm and provided to the management company for initial review and approval. After any questions and comments from the management company are addressed, the return is provided to the board of directors for final review and approval. PART X, LINE 2:

The corporation is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and state income tax and has been classified as an other than private foundation. Accordingly, no provision for federal and state taxes on revenue and income has been recognized in the accompanying financial statements. Generally, the federal and state tax returns are subject to examination for three years after the later of the original or extended due date or the date filed with the applicable tax authority.
