The organization has a written contract with the executive director. The last compensation review performed by an independent consultant was done in 2022. The organization's salary structure is reviewed by the board of directors annually and adjusted based on market data. The north carolina partnership for children developed a mandatory salary schedule for smart start executive directors effective july 1, 2023 as required by state legislation. The wake county smart start executive director compensation is following the salary schedule.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19
