Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Tryon palace foundation, inc. (the "charity") is a supporting organization and is operated exclusively for the benefit of, to perform the functions of, and to carry out the purpose of tryon palace. Tryon palace is owned and operated by the state of north carolina and includes the historic sites and its associated activities. Tryon palace, the restored site of royal governor william tryon, was originally built in 1770 and destroyed by fire in 1798. The palace and grounds were restored by the state of north carolina using state funds as well as funds from a private trust created under the will of maude moore latham. Tryon palace reopened in 1959.tryon palace is open to the general public tuesday through sunday. Special historical, educational, and cultural events are also held at tryon palace throughout the year. The foundation conducts fundraising activities and accepts grants and contributions.
