Mission and Program Overview
Mission
The foundation for peace is a 501(c)(3) not-for profit organization dedicated to education in the united states and to working hand in hand with people in materially impoverished areas of the dominican republic, haiti, and kenya to provide educational support, healthcare access, economic opportunity and hope. We work together as long-term partners in solidarity to enable personal success and community achievement. We believe this will result in sustainable and successful initiatives that relieve the effects of poverty, encourage personal growth, and overcome injustice.

- Activity 2
- Education sponsorship programs: provides an education program that exceeds government standards for students in areas where there is little or no educational opportunity. This is accomplished in several ways: 1) partnering with communities to build schools; 2) dominikids, haitikids and kenyakids sponsorship programs fund tuition for teacher salaries, as well as other necessities; 3) the advance education program makes the dream of a high school and college education possible. Sponsors provide tuition assistance to college students who usually work and attend school part-time.a new school was constructed in fond parisien, haiti to serve the needs of 400 children displaced by the earthquake. The second floor of the bygrace academy in kenya was opened allowing a doubling of the number of children enrolled and we continue to support ten schools in the dominican republic and haiti with supplies and financial assistance through the sponsorship programs.currently, there are ten students enrolled in the advanced education program across the three countries and 100 adults in the language school in haiti. A large vocational and language school is under construction in ganthier, haiti that will greatly expand out educational programs for young adults.

- Water purification program: provides an affordable source of clean water for people in areas where the clean water is otherwise not available; as well as creates jobs and a source of funds for community improvement projects. Ffp knows that the provision of clean water dramatically decreases the prevalence of intestinal parasites based upon surveys taken before and after the system installation and educational promotion about the importance of clean water.in 2010 ffp opened another clean water system, this one in los alcarrizos, that has been very well accepted in this community. Ffp also added solar panels with batteries to the water system in anse-a-pitre, haiti that has allowed for a more constant production of water and a financial benefit to the community because the operating costs of the system have fallen dramatically.
