“Board meetings occur usually three times a year making pre-approval by the entire board impractical. The Form 990 is prepared by the Treasurer and reviewed by an independent CPA and President before filing. Completed form is made available to all Board members at the first subsequent board meeting.”

“Governing documents and policies are available through the organization's website. The Form 990 is available upon request.”

“We conducted four District-wide sectional events during the past fiscal year. This popular event includes participation from some 80-90 individual clubs. Additionally, we cosponsored an educational event with the ACBL District No 6 Foundation where we provided the facilities in conjunction with one of our regional tournaments.”

“Due to an oversight on our part we did not provide appropriate disclosures in our solicitations for contributions. We have ceased further solicitations and have filed registration statements with the states of Virginia and Maryland about the activity. Note that we do not use professional fundraisers in our all volunteer organization and that expenses exceeded revenue for this fiscal year. Fundraising was limited to providing support for a National tournament that is held on our area approximately once every nine years.”

“The significant amounts of salaries and wages listed on line 7 represent payments to employees of the American Contract Bridge League (EIN# 13-0430330). The ACBL prepares all W-2 documents, tax withholding and employee benefits.”

“$6,830 is paid to contractors who prepared and edited the organization's publications and advertising. $12,428 is paid to various individuals who provide various administrative support such as moving and setting up equipment and supplies, and scheduling coordination with other similar bridge-related organizations.”

“The significant amounts of travel, lodging and per diem shown on line 17 represents payments to employees of the American Contract Bridge League (EIN#13-0430330) per the contractual sanction agreement between ACBL District 6 and ACBL, and in accordance with IRS rules.
