To assure compliance with all regulatory requirements, the tax return is prepared by an independent CPA firm. A completed draft is reviewed by management and all outstanding regulatory and presentation issues are resolved. Once changes are made to the draft to reflect comments from management, a final draft is made available to all members of the Board of Directors for their review. Upon resolution of any remaining questions or requests for information by the Board members, a final return is filed with the IRS.

Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The CEO and several other officers of the organization are officers or key employees of Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System, a related organization, and are compensated by Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System. Similar to other officers and key employees of Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System (other than the CEO) a market summary is coordinated by an independent consultant to determine a market rate range of compensation for such individuals. The compensation is then determined by the CEO of Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System within the range determined by the independent consultant. In addition, one of the officers of the organization is the CEO of Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System, who is compensated by Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System. This officer's compensation is determined by Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System through the use of a compensation committee, written employment contract, compensation study or survey and approval by the Board or compensation committee. The medical director is paid directly by the organization. The medical director's compensation is determined by a written employment agreement, which is updated annually following a performance review with the VP of Medical Affairs of Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System, a member of the APC Board of Directors, and the medical director'supervisor. Compensation increases are provided based on the same criteria applied to Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System employees. Finally, one of the officers of Arlington Pediatric Center is compensated by Arlington Pediatric Center. Similar to other officers and key employees of Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System (other than the CEO) a market summary is coordinated by an independent consultant to determine a market rate range of compensation for such individual.

Arlington Pediatric Center's financial results are reported on separate audited financial statements, as well as the consolidated audited financial statements for the Virginia Hospital Center Arlington Health System. The Arlington Pediatric Center separate audited financial statements include the footnote below: "The Center was recognized as a public charity, not a foundation, generally exempt from federal income taxation under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code pursuant to a determination letter issued by the IRS in November 2000. The Center is entitled to rely on this determination as long as there are no substantial changes in its character, purposes, or methods of operation. Management has concluded that there have been no such changes and therefore the Center's status as a public charity exempt from federal income taxation remains in effect. The state in which the Center operates also provides general exemption from state income taxation for organizations that are exempt from federal income taxation. However, the Center is subject to both federal and state income taxation at corporate tax rates on its unrelated business income. Exemption from other state taxes, such as real and personal property taxes, is separately determined. The Center had no unrecognized tax benefits or such amounts were immaterial during the periods presented. For tax periods with respect to which no unrelated business income was recognized, the Center was not required to file any income tax returns. Tax periods for which no return is filed remain open for examination indefinitely. Although information returns were filed, no tax returns were filed during 2013 and 2012. Current accounting standards define the threshold for recognizing uncertain income tax return positions in the financial statements as "more likely than not" that the position is sustainable, based on its technical merits, and also provide guidance on the measurement, classification and disclosure of tax return positions in the financial statements. The Center management believes there is no impact on the accompanying financial statements related to uncertain income tax positions."

THE APC LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER PROVIDED 470 INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING SESSIONS TO 155 CHILDREN. APC HELPED PARENTS OBTAIN OR RENEW MEDICAID/FAMIS BENEFITS FOR 339 CHILDREN ENSURING THEM GREATER ACCESS TO PEDIATRIC SPECIALISTS, HOSPITALIZATIONS, AND MEDICATIONS. APC PROVIDED 521 FREE PRESCRIPTIONS TO UNINSURED CHILDREN TO HELP IMPROVE COMPLIANCE WITH TREATMENT PLANS. THE NUMBER OF PATIENTS IDENTIFIED AS CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL HEALTH CARE NEEDS (CSHCN) GREW TO 589. THESE CHILDREN ARE PROFOUNDLY AFFECTED BY CONDITIONS SUCH AS CEREBRAL PALSY, DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY, CONGENITAL HEART CONDITIONS, ASTHMA, AND DOWN SYNDROME. THEIR TREATMENT PLANS REQUIRE EXTENSIVE CARE COORDINATION. APC PARTICIPATES IN REACH OUT AND READ, AND EVERY CHILD IS ENCOURAGED TO TAKE HOME A BOOK AFTER EVERY VISIT. APC TRAINS MEDICAL RESIDENTS FROM INOVA FAIRFAX HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN, AS WELL AT RN'S, LPN' AND MEDICAL ASSISTANTS FROM OTHER TRAINING PROGRAMS.
