Systems, and community centers, as well as 855 homes in haiti, nicaragua, honduras, guatemala, el salvador, liberia, and costa rica. Our buildings are structurally sound, intentionally designed, culturally appropriate, and aesthetically beautiful. Bgf buildings and homes have weathered various natural disasters, including the 2010 haiti earthquake, hurricane sandy in 2012, and matthew in 2016, with no structural damage. Bgf specializes in nonprofit construction in underdeveloped countries. We maximize project funding and impact through partnerships with u.s.-based trade professionals and international ngos. Bgf's proven and replicable model delivers beautiful, high-quality structures that: are built on time and on budget, increase our partner's capacity, and generate a sense of pride and hope in the community. As a successful international construction nonprofit, bgf thoughtfully considers the impact of our work. We gauge our success through meaningful and measurable outcomes in the following impact areas: local economic development: indigenous community members receive stable employment and onsite skills mentoring. Bgf employs 76 local community members, including 14 women, on our international jobsites. Partner capacity: bgf partners own custom-built facilities that boost their ability to serve their community. Nearly 100,000 people use bgf buildings annually to receive health care, build small businesses, and attend school. Volunteer opportunities: u.s.-based construction professionals volunteer their time and gain invaluable experiences, cultural exchange, and personal connections. In 2016, 120 volunteers donated services valued at 633,349.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Without funding for critical building needs, many local nonprofit organizations would close their doors, and low-income families would have no option but to leave their homes. Bgf local projects provide nonprofits with the building upgrades they need at a reduced cost of construction of up to 90%, while low-income homeowners receive home repairs at no cost. Every year through local projects, bgf completes 20 construction projects for up to 12 local nonprofit organizations and 10 local low-income homeowners. Bgf provides building repairs and renovations for nonprofit partners who are on the frontlines of alleviating poverty and promoting opportunity for the underserved in our communities through: health and education: planned parenthood, city schoolyard garden, sexual assault resource agency, virginia discovery museum, camp holiday trails, virginia institute of autism, blue ridge medical center youth mentorship and services: boys and girls club, piedmont casa, computers 4 kids, westminster child care center, children, youth, and family services sustainable livelihoods: casa alma, charis community, the haven, bridgeline, on our own, arc of the piedmont, habitat for humanity ecological opportunities: rockfish wildlife sanctuary, rivanna trail foundation, wildrock

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0LOCAL PROJECTS TOGETHER WITH OUR NONPROFIT PARTNERS, BUILDING GOODNESS FOUNDATION SEEKS TO ERADICATE POVERTY AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS THROUGH CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS THAT BENEFIT THE MOST VULNERABLE IN OUR COMMUNITY. BGF CONNECTS CHARLOTTESVILLE-AREA TRADE PROFESSIONALS, WHO DONATE THEIR TIME AND EXPERTISE, TO BUILDING PROJECTS FOR OUR NONPROFIT AND LOW-INCOME NEIGHBORS. THROUGH LOCAL PROJECTS, BGF REPAIRS HOMES OF THE SICK AND ELDERLY, UPGRADES FACILITIES FOR THE HOMELESS, AND BUILDS SPACES FOR AT-RISK YOUTH TO CONNECT AND LEARN. WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES, BGF VOLUNTEERS MEET ESSENTIAL COMMUNITY CONSTRUCTION NEEDS, WHICH ULTIMATELY BENEFIT THOUSANDS OF LOCAL RESIDENTS EVERY YEAR.
