Activity 2

The caritas furniture bank is the only furniture bank in virginia with its 20,000 square foot warehouse. We provided almost 515,000 worth of furniture and household goods to more than 686 households this year. In addition, this partnership with fifty referral agencies allowed caritas to keep more than 330,000 pounds of furnishings and household items out of the landfill and recycled it back into the community, benefiting qualified individuals and families transitioning to self-sufficiency and stability. Donations of gently used furniture, kitchenware, linens, and basic household items help hundreds of your neighbors regain their lives and acquire the basics of a functioning home.

Activity 3

Caritas works, our newest program, was officially launched in january of this year. The goal of this intensive job-readiness program is to engage the community and its resources to build bridges to sustainable employment and successful re-entry into society for clients who experience addiction, homelessness, incarceration, and other barriers to employment. Caritas works will offer: a life skills and employment readiness academy an employment placement agency that reaches out through the faith and business communities a not-for-profit business enterprise that provides immediate employment opportunities
