IRS990/Desc0Our programs give families the skills and stability they need to build a brighter future. Approximately 100 families annually, participate in the following programs:- Emergency Shelter (Sullivan House) is the largest short-term family emergency shelter in Arlington, serving about 100 families per year in an apartment-style facility. The focus is on helping clients address issues that contributed to homelessness through case management and referral services. A special emphasis is placed on placing families quickly into their home, helping them acquire sound financial management skills and secure employment. Case managers provide resources to families to include mental health and substance abuse referrals. Families are provide with food and other necessities through donations from volunteers. The shelter is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.-Rapid Rehousing is a program designed to help families obtain housing quickly, increase self-sufficiency and remain permanently housed. Housing Stabilization Specialists work with families to identify housing options in Arlington County. Bridges subsidizes rent 100% for the first three months while families begin to get back on their feet. The next three months, the subsidy decreases to 75%, then three months later to 50%, and so on. The idea is that within a year, the families will be self-sufficient and able to maintain rent and utilities on their own without additional subsidies from Bridges. The housing options secured are meant to be long-term housing solutions with rental agreement and utilities in the family's name.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Workforce Development - Bridges employment services help participants find, secure, and retain stable employment. We meet individuals where they are and provide what they need. For some, Bridges helps them obtain specialized trade certifications. For others, Bridges helps them translate their existing skillsets to new opportunities. Bridges provides group training and on-on-one mentorship while breaking down barriers to employment, such as transportation and childcare. The focus of the program is to move families from minimum wage to livable wage.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Youth Development - This robust program provides year-round opportunities for youth to empower themselves with proactive skillsets and soft skills. It includes tutoring, mentoring, Kids Empowered nights, STEM nights, swimming lessons, guitar lessons, summer internships with local businesses, a very popular lemonade stand, and more. The Lemonade Stand is a youth-run enterprise that empowers youth of all ages to learn business skills. The money the youth earn from the Lemonade Stand goes toward opening their first savings account and is complemented with financial management workshops from the Arlington Community Federal Credit Union.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0Financial Empowerment-This program is more than learning how to manage a budget and open a savings account. The program meets our families in the realities where they are, which is navigating the complex government benefit programs for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Food Stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. The financial empowerment workshops are held at no charge to the families and they are provided one-on-one coaching options for financial management. The program is executed through community partnerships and volunteers.
