“A slate of officers and directors is presented to the membership for approval. All dues paying members of the association are eligible to vote on the slate. There is also an opportunity to add candidates for all positions prior to the voting.”

“The governing body has limited ability to make decisions without the approval of the membership. The membership approves the annual budget which guides the financial decisions of the association. Any policy positions taken by the association must be first approved by the membership. Any changes to the bylaws must be voted on by the membership.”

“The return is given to the executive committee to review after completion. Once they have made any changes they deem appropriate, the return is given to all board members. They have one week to respond with any comments. After that period of time, the return is filed.”

“Each board member is given a copy of the conflict of interest policy to read and sign at the first board meeting each year. Before each board meeting, the members are reminded of the conflict of interest policy and requested to notify the board if any issue arises that would be a violation of the policy if they participated in the discussion or the vote.”

“A committee obtains information regarding compensation for other organizations in the community which are of similar size and structure. There is no one on the committee who is not associated with the association.”
