Mission

Vhqc's mission is to create solutions that make a measurable difference on individual and community health.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Vhqc also serves as the regional extension center for health information technology in virginia. Through a department of health and human services program, vhqc fosters implementation of electronic health record systems in physician offices to improve patient safety through error reduction, improved care coordination among physicians consulting on the same patient, electronic prescribing of drugs, automated alerts regarding drug interactions, better follow-up care for those patients with chronic diseases, and other safety initiatives. During fiscal year 2013, vhqc received $171,459 of donated services from physicians and their staff as part of this matching requirement.
Activity 3
Vhqc provided medical case reviews for a variety of states' bureaus of insurance and private companies to determine the appropriateness of care for beneficiaries of health plans within those states and offered by those companies. Vhqc also performed additional electronic health record related consulting services for virginia's department of behavioral health and developmental services and physician practices who did not qualify for regional extension center services.
