Mission

The mission of the peninsula fine arts center is to provide the virginia peninsula and surrounding communities a balanced and stimulating program of visual arts, dynamic exhibitions and educational programs that appeal to both children and adults, and to serve as a proponent of the visual arts community.

To promote the appreciation of the fine arts and to conform with accepted museum standard by maintaining and operating an arts center.

The members of the organization elect the board of trustees at the annual meeting in june.

Members of the finance committee as well as the executive director review the form 990 initially. In addition, a copy of the form 990 is reviewed by the board of trustees prior to filing with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

A board term is for three years. When a term starts or is renewed, the trustee fully discloses any conflicts at the time and any that arise during the term. Board members are required to sign a conflict of interest acknowledgement form on an annual basis. In the event of a conflict, that member will excuse himself or herself from the discussion and vote.

The executive director's contract is part of the annual operating budget which is approved by the full board. The board reviews compensation of other non-profit organizations of similar size and in a similar geographic area in order to determine the executive director's contract. The determination and approval of the contract are documented in the meeting minutes.

Peninsula fine arts center,inc. Accepts works of art for educational purposes as part of its exhibition program. These works are documented upon entry and departure; are housed in art storage; and are exhibited for the purpose intended.

PART X, LINE 2:

The center has been recognized by the internal revenue service as exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the u.s. Internal revenue code. The center does not have any unrelated business taxable income and management believes it has support for any tax positions taken, and as such does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. Management has determined the center does not have any material unrecognized tax benefits or obligations as of june 30, 2018. Fiscal years ending on or after june 30, 2015, remain subject to examination by federal and state authorities.

OUR STUDIO ART SCHOOL SERVES OVER 1,000 ADULTS AND CHILDREN ANNUALLY; CLASSES INCLUDE THE TRADITIONAL ARTS SUCH AS PAINTING, PHOTOGRAPHY, PRINTMAKING, DRAWING, AND CERAMICS/POTTERY, AS WELL AS EXHIBIT SPECIFIC CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS. THE CLASSES ARE DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE A MULTITUDE OF SKILL LEVELS. WE ALSO HAVE ART THERAPY PROGRAMS FOR VETERANS AND ADULTS WITH EARLY ON-STAGE DEMENTIA AND ALZEHEIMER'S.EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDE DOCENT-LED TOURS, SOL-ALIGNED DISTANCE LEARNING FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS, AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS, SCHOOL BREAK AND SUMMER CAMPS, PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS, AND A PERMANENT HANDS ON FOR KIDS GALLERY.
