Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Rtca, inc. Is a not-for-profit corporation that develops consensus-based recommendations on technology, procedures, and equipage principally related to communication, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management (cns/atm). In may 2018, rtca transitioned from a federal advisory committee to a standards development organization, with this transition rtca continues to provide faa referenced, criticial technical standards to the aviation industry.

Rtca, inc. Is a private, not-for-profit corporation that serves as the collective voice of the aviation community by developing consensus-based recommendations on contemporary operational concepts and requirements, technology, policies, procedures, equipage, and implemental issues, principally related to communication, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management (cns/atm). Rtca and several of its parts (e.g., air traffic management advisory committee, program management committee, and special committees) are chartered by the faa to be utilized as an advisory committee. Rtca provides two categories of recommendations-broad gauged policy and investment recommendations and performance standards, reports, and guidance documents. Rtca recommendations are used by the faa as the basis for policy, program, and regulatory decisions and by the private sector as the basis for development, investment and other business decisions.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Rtca accounts for income taxes in accordance with the accounting standards codification (asc) topic income taxes. These provisions provide consistent guidance for the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an entity's financial statements and prescribe a threshold of "more likely than not" for recognition and derecognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. Rtca performed an evaluation of uncertain tax positions for the year ended december 31, 2015 and determined that there were no matters that would require recognition in the financial statements or that may have an effect on its tax-exempt status. As of december 31, 2015, the statute of limitations for tax years 2012 through 2014 remains open with the u.s. Federal jurisdiction. It is rtca's policy to recognize interest and/or penalties related to uncertain tax positions, if any, in unrelated business income tax expense.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0RTCA ACCOUNTS FOR INCOME TAXES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACCOUNTING STANDARDS CODIFICATION (ASC) TOPIC INCOME TAXES.
