Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III

Continuation of program service accomplishment: ...reach of over 56,000 on facebook. In the spring of 2019, the media center featured coverage of westminster boys and girls lacrosse. Twenty- seven highlight videos were produced, including playoff games and state championship highlights. Coverage concluded with a half hour post-season wrap up show. Cmsportsnet's lacrosse coverage was broadcast on cable channel 19 and hd-1086, posted on a special page of the cmc website and shared on social media. Cmsportsnet's lacrosse videos had a total reach of 38,000 on facebook over the course of the season. The community media center created voter education content for the 2018 maryland state general election and the 2019 carroll county municipal elections. In each case, the media center offered all candidates running for public offices the opportunity to record a candidate profile. Candidate profiles were posted on the media center's website in a special voters guide along with other relevant election information such as voting dates, districts and polling places, and links to the maryland state board of elections, the carroll county board of elections and local municipal offices. The candidate profiles were broadcast on cable channels 19, 23 and hd-1086. Fifty candidates from twenty-one individual maryland state races participated in the general election profiles. The community media center produced live candidate forums for five separate races, in partnership with the carroll county times. Over 13 hours of election related content was produced by cmc for the 2018 general election. In the spring, all eight municipalities in carroll county, maryland held mayoral or town council elections. Twenty-seven candidates from six local races recorded candidate profiles. The media center produced live candidate forums for five separate municipal races, in partnership with the carroll county times. Over 12 hours of municipal election related coverage was produced by the community media center, generating over seven thousand online views. The cmc expanded efforts to honor local veterans by documenting their stories of service to our country. The media center held two veteran oral history collection days as part of the carroll county history project. Over 25 local veterans participated by sharing their story or by interviewing fellow service members. Interviews were part of a special veterans day broadcast on channel 19 and became part of the carroll county history projects permanent online video archive. In addition, carroll hospice invited cmc to share a video of the program at their annual we honor veterans breakfast. The goal of the veterans oral history collection is not only to honor our local veteran's service and sacrifice, but also to preserve their memories and provide a lasting resource to help educate future generations. As part of our mission to provide individuals access to digital technologies, the cmc collaborated with the mid-atlantic gigabit innovation collaboratory (magic) on two of their capture the flag (ctf), ethical hacking competitions. Cmc served as the main arena for both events. In november, cmc provided live streaming coverage of the event that attracted over 100 student participants and featured live streams from eight satellite locations including three countries in multiple time zones. In april, the ctf event had 150 student participants. The media center's live streaming coverage included eleven satellite locations and four different time zones including maryland, idaho, north carolina, ecuador and estonia.
