Mission

The coalition to strengthen america's healthcare was formed in 2000 to protect access to the best quality healthcare for all americans. The coalition represents the interests of more than 5,000 community, children's, teaching, public, religious, rehabilitation, behavioral health, and long-term care hospitals, and their patients.

The coalition works to strengthen patients' access to high-quality, life-saving healthcare.

“A copy of the 990 is reviewed by counsel prior to filing and a copy is sent to all board members for review.”

“The organization's conflict of interest policy covers each director, principal officer, or member of a committee with powers delegated by the board of directors. Duty to disclose: in connection with any actual or possible conflict of interest, an interested person must disclose in writing the existence of the financial interest and be given the opportunity to disclose all material facts to the board and members of committees with board delegated powers considering the proposed transaction or arrangement. Determining whether a conflict of interest exists: after disclosure of the financial interest and all material facts, and after any discussion with the interested person, he/she shall leave the board or committee meeting while the determination of a conflict of interest is discussed and voted upon. The remaining board shall decide if a conflict of interest exists. Procedures for addressing the conflict of interest: an interested person may make a presentation at the board or committee meeting, but after the presentation, he/she shall leave the meeting during the discussion of, and the vote on, the transaction or arrangement involving the possible conflict of interest. Violations of the conflicts of interest policy: if the board or committee has reasonable cause to believe a member has failed to disclose actual or possible conflicts of interest, it shall inform the member of the basis for such belief and afford the member an opportunity to explain the alleged failure to disclose. If, after hearing the member's response and after making further investigation as warranted by the circumstances, the board or committee determines the member has failed to disclose an actual or possible conflict of interest, it shall take appropriate disciplinary and corrective action.”

“The coalition recognizes and measures its unrecognized tax benefits in accordance with fasb asc 740, income taxes. Under that guidance, management assesses the likelihood that tax positions will be sustained upon examination based on the facts, circumstances and information available at the end of each period, including the technical merits of those positions. The measurement of unrecognized tax benefits is adjusted when new information is available or when an event occurs that requires a change. Management has evaluated the coalition's tax positions and has concluded that the coalition has taken no uncertain tax positions that require adjustments to these financial statements.”
