“Because of covid - three membership meetings were held using zoom rather than in person. 1. A virtual membership meeting was held on january 27-29, 2021. A new chair for the organization chaired the meeting, ms. Carmen medina. She introduced the newest board members. We had a presentation from ms. Lisa gillette, director of the office of migrant education, usde. She gave an update on the activities of the national migrant education programs. Ms. Sylvia partida, chief executive officer of the national center for formworker health (ncfh) provided an oversight of all the programs with ncfh. There were breakout groups to discuss both presentations - omec and ncfh 2. A virtual membership meeting was held june 23-25, 2021 ms. Carmen medina chaired the meeting. There was a breakout group - that discussed status of mep implementation due to covid-19 inlcluding id&r, fiscal issues, summer school issues, health issues and collaboration ms. Lisa gillete, director of the office of migrant education gave an overview and upate of the national migrant educational program. Ms. Lisa ramirez, director of partnerships and public engagement usda gave an overview of the usda program including q&a ms. Megan kinlock, director, vermont migrant education program gave an overview of the vermont mep including some of the issues faced by a small state during the pandemic. A presentation was made by dr. Cynthia bejarano, professor, new mexico state university (nmsu). She gave an overview of the paul j. Taylor social justice symposium, justice for farmworkers 3. A virtual membership meeting was held september 29-october 1, 2021 ms. Carmen medina chaired the meeting. There was a keynote presentation by dr. Noe ortega, pennsylvania secretary of education mr. Tomas mejia, mep director of the colorado state migrant education program gave me a presentation and an overview of the educational and support services being offered to the colorado responded during covid ms. Tara ramsey, interim director of the office of migrant education (usde) gave an overview and updates of the national migrant education program there were small workgroups to discuss re-opening of school issues and solutions still face by the state of mep due to adjustments because of covid there was discussion on topics for the imec national symposium to be held september of 2022.
