Following full disclosure of a possible conflict of interest, the Board of Directers determines whether a conflict of interest exists and, if so the Board votes to authorize or reject the transaction or take any other action deemed necessary to address the conflict and protect AALEAD's best interests.”

“The process for determining the Executive Director's compensation involves the completion by the entire board of a detailed evaluation and interviews of key staff and stakeholders. This performance assessment and review of market compensation data from similar organizations is then examined by an Executive Committee of the Board, which proposes a compensation level that must be approved by the entire board. Other employees' compensation is determined by the Executive Director with input and advice from the Board.”

“AALEAD saw the need for its services in VA and expanded in VA in 2015 to conduct programs in three different schools. There was a shortage in government funding and AALEAD decided to self-fund the VA program for three years. AALEAD was able to support the VA program from utilizing its reserved funds during the past 3 years. Fiscal year ended 2019 was the last of the three-year self-funding plan.”

“There were over 350 workshops offered that connected youth with resources to succeed academically and prepare for college/future careers; gave youth the tools to develop pride in themselves and where they are from; and gave youth every opportunity to help develop skills and experiences as leaders. 100% of youth transitioned to the next grade level; 92% of youth said they learned more about the Asian American community, 83% of youth said they became more comfortable sharing and expressing their ethnic/cultural background and 80% said they knew what mental health is and had the tools to manage stress and their emotions.”
