| IRS990/Desc | 0 | GPP's programs are designed to work withorganizations and alliances to develop new organizing practices to achieve transformational social change. In 2020, with an all virtual operation, we worked with coalitions in four states and with three national networks. We conducted dozens of remote education sessions and facilitated custom-designed meetings and workshops to help organizations improve the strategies they use to achieve their goals. This enabled approximately80leaders to develop more effective campaign and program strategy. FromJuly-August, we hosted a remote training program that included10sessions, reaching115participants from all across the country. We also hosted one training program for a national organization (GreenPeace), with12 sessions and reaching100 people, introducing the staff to a new set of organizing tools and concepts. Finally, we wrote and self-published an article on how organizations can most effectively navigate the rapidly changing political, economic and health conditions of the pandemic, and conducted over5 workshops on the content to groups across the country. This directly helped organizations adjust to a new and very difficult set of conditions in our work. |

| IRS990ScheduleA/FactsAndCircumstancesTestTxt | 0 | Current Year Facts and Circumstances: Grassroots Power Project (GPP) has evaluated the five-factor facts and circumstances test and believes it should continue to be treated as a public charity. GPP receives more than 10% of its support from public sources. It is actively engaged in attracting additional public support on an ongoing basis. It has a representative governing board. It makes its programs broadly available. As the Organization is not a membership organization the fifth factor is not applicable. Percentage of public support. GPPs public support is 28%, substantially above the 10% facts and circumstances threshold and has increased from 26% in 2019. GPP already attracts meaningful public support, intends to be publicly supported, and is actively engaged in activities that are intended to attract new and additional public or governmental support on a continuous basis. Additionally, a large majority of GPPs excess contributions consist of amounts raised through the Ford Foundation as part of a 4-year grant and through the California Endowment as part of a 2-year grant. GPP accounted for both contributions in the annual reports as is best practice in an accrual-based accounting system. GPP expects its public support % to increase over the next few years. Sources of support. GPP currently attracts support from individuals and community groups and continues to expand its sources of support, including potential governmental sources of support. Availability of public facilities or services; All of GPPs programs services are available to the broad general public without charge. GPPs program is designed to engage staff and leaders of advocacy groups in education and strategic planning for more effective interventions on behalf of the communities they serve. In 2020, GPP worked with advocacy coalitions in four states, conducting strategic planning and education sessions in each state. In addition, GPP worked with three national networks, conducting sessions that reached hundreds of leaders, developing briefing papers, and co-developing curriculum materials. In the fall of 2020, GPP co-hosted an 8-week-long online training series that brought together advocacy leaders from across the country. These leaders are using GPPs curriculum with their organizations, extending the reach of GPPs work exponentially. Representative governing body.
