Further, at the beginning of each board meeting, all directors are asked to sign in and note any conflicts of interest.”

On an annual basis, the executive committee conducts an assessment of the performance of the ceo during the previous year, meets with the ceo to discuss his or her performance, reviews data on the compensation of ceo's at comparable chambers throughout the geographic area, and sets the ceo's compensation for the coming year. Salary and other compensation amounts are included in the annual budget of the organization, which is subject to approval by the board of directors.”
