Improve literacy among children & adults

Our mission is to improve 21st century literacy among children and adults in the Metropolitan Washington D.C. area. WIC develops innovative sustaining programs and scholarship opportunities through partnerships with public and private sector and non-profit entities.

Form 990 governing body review Part VI line 11

WICs process to review Form 990 consists of the outsourced accounting firm providing financials to the CPA tax preparer. The Chairman and the outsourced accounting firm jointly review the tax return with the preparer once the draft is completed. The preparer makes any changes and sends the updated draft to the Chairman and the outsourced accounting firm to review prior to sharing with the board of directors. The board of directors are given the opportunity to review the return and make comments. The return is finalized and approved for the tax preparer to file. The Chairman and the outsourced accounting firm retains a copy of the tax return on file. Copies are available to the public upon request.

The Chairman and the outsourced accounting firm jointly review the tax return with the preparer once the draft is completed. The preparer makes any changes and sends the updated draft to the Chairman and the outsourced accounting firm to review prior to sharing with the board of directors. The board of directors are given the opportunity to review the return and make comments. The return is finalized and approved for the tax preparer to file. The Chairman and the outsourced accounting firm retains a copy of the tax return on file. Copies are available to the public upon request.
