As the iec iecq member body representative for the us, eccc holds industry membership meetings to share information about activities, programs and trends of the various national and international conformity assessment programs as they relate to the electronics industry. 2014 saw the evolution of the hazardous substance free (hsf) mark into an affiliation with signakey for some enabling technology and the counterfeit avoidance mark alliance (cama) was changed into a closer alliance with the iecq counterfeit avoidance assuming the same name. Also in a similar alliance with signakey, 2014 saw the development of a new technology called e-labelling which has been embraced by iecq. The hazardous substance free (hsf) mark supports and promotes the hsf mark for manufactured sub-assemblies and products. The hsf mark was created to provide consumer confidence that products and product packages that are so marked are, or contain, products produced in a controlled environment that is certified to ensure compliance with hazardous-substance-free national and international standards. It is restricted to the affiliate program hspm and members of hsf hold current hspm certification. The counterfeit mark alliance (cama) previously attempted to address relevant issues caused by counterfeit components in the global supply chain, but failed to gain an international alliance of any significance because of competing aims of the iecq counterfeit avoidance program. As a result this initiative has been renamed and linked with the efforts of iecq.”
