The hazardous substance free (hsf) mark supports and promotes the hsf mark for manufactured sub-assemblies and products. The hsf mark was created to provide consumer confidence that products and product packages that are so marked are, or contain, products produced in a controlled environment that is certified to ensure compliance with hazardous-substance-free national and international standards. It is restricted to the affiliate program hspm and members of hsf hold current hspm certification. The counterfeit mark alliance (cama) previously attempted to address relevant issues caused by counterfeit components in the global supply chain, but failed to gain an international alliance of any significance because of competing aims of the iecq counterfeit avoidance program. As a result this initiative has been renamed and linked with the efforts of iecq.”
