Mission

The fairfax law foundation promotes equal justice for all in fairfax county. As the charitable arm of the fairfax bar association, the fairfax law foundation pursues its commitment to creating a more just society by working towards equal access to the justice system and providing law-related education opportunities throughout the fairfax county community.

To educate the public on the legal system and promote study and research.

“The foundation's employees are paid by the fairfax bar association, ein 51-0205344, and the w-2's for the employees are reported under the fairfax bar association ein. The foundation reimburses the fairfax bar association for salaries, payroll taxes, and benefits which are reported as reimbursement of expenses on schedule r. This explains why the foundation does not file forms w-2 for its employees but does have wages, payroll taxes, and benefits reported as expenses in the form 990.”

Part X, Line 2:

“The Foundation is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In addition, the Foundation has been determined by the Internal Revenue Service not to be a private foundation within the meaning of Section 509(a) of the code. Accordingly, the accompanying financial statements do not reflect a provision or liability for federal and state income taxes. The Foundation has determined that it does not have any material unrecognized tax benefits or obligations as of June 30, 2017 and 2016. Fiscal years ending on or after June 30, 2014 remain subject to examination by federal and state tax authorities.”
