Activity 2

STRATEGIC ADVOCACY PROGRAM: The FCNL Education Fund works with a network of over 60,000 people to provide practical steps that people around the country can take to advance nonpartisan public policy initiatives. Through social media, mainstream media, newsletters, telephone calls and outreach/organizing around the country, we help individuals and communities to advocate for social and economic justice, peace, and good government. Our Annual Meeting and Spring Lobby Weekend offer tools and training that foster strong citizen engagement. Our War Is Not the Answer Campaign has distributed more than 1.2 million bumper stickers, yard signs and other materials in the United States during the last decade.

Activity 3

FOREIGN POLICY PROGRAM: The FCNL Education Fund works for demilitarization of U.S. foreign policy and aid programs. We educate Congress and the public about the importance of reductions in the overall military budget and in the worldwide U.S. military operations. We emphasize U.S. commitment to international treaties, joint aid, civilian peacebuilding, and regional diplomacy, especially in relation to Iran, Afghanistan, and Sub-Saharan Africa. We see the conflicts in the Greater Middle East as interrelated. We have called for the withdrawal of all U.S. military troops and bases from Iraq and Afghanistan, for sustained diplomatic negotiations with all of the countries in the region (including Iran and Syria), and for sustained U.S. development aid through international organizations. Our Shared Security project envisions a new role for the U.S. in the world, providing a Quaker vision for a new U.S. foreign policy.
