“An annual conflict of interest disclosure exercise is performed by the organization. This exercise requires each employee to read the business ethics policy and complete the conflict of interest disclosure form identifying any possible conflicts known by the employee. New employees are also required to complete the conflict of interest disclosure form upon hiring. A log is maintained of any documented conflicts for future referencing. On an annual basis, all directors acknowledge their familiarity with the enterprise conflict of interest policy and complete the disclosure statement. The completed statements are reviewed by the general counsel. Any issues noted are referred to the board or appropriate committee.”

“The process for determining compensation for the ceo and officer positions of enterprise community partners is as follows: partners engages an independent consulting firm to provide a compensation study for the ceo & officers positions to establish a market value. The board of trustees discusses and sets the ceo compensation. The board also reviews and approves the ceo's and cfo's recommendations for other officers' compensation. This process is documented in the board meeting minutes.”

“In schedule vii and schedule j, the vice presidents previously reported as officers of enterprise have been removed. As enterprise has grown over the past decade, our structure has changed significantly. During this period of significant growth, we have continued to assign certain employees the title of vice president. Prior to 2019 upon obtaining a title of vice president an employee also became an officer of the organization through a formal board election process. All such elected officers were disclosed in our schedule vii and schedule j disclosures for 2018 and prior years. After a thorough review of our governing by-laws, we noted that they set forth that an officer should be an individual that can step in for the president in the event they cannot perform their duties. Accordingly, we have determined that our vice presidents did not meet the definition of an officer as stated in our by-laws. In 2019, we presented our findings to the board in the form of a resolution to formally reduce the number of officers in the organization to those that truly meet the definition set forth in our by-laws. This meant that certain individuals previously reported as officers in our form 990s were in our opinion, incorrectly being reported as officers. The board both passed and re-elected the shorter slate of officers in december of 2019. Accordingly, we have adjusted our schedule vii and schedule j for 2019.”

“Capital: enterprise, in conjunction with its affiliates, raises private and public capital through investment and fundraising, and by forming effective partnerships. Through identifying and channeling capital to qualified partners, we bring national dollars to local communities. In 2019, enterprise awarded almost $50.8 million in grants to 268 affordable housing and community development organizations across the united states. Also, in 2019, we committed more than $61 million in grants to new york land banks, community land trusts, and other housing development organizations to address critical needs housing, improve the quality of housing, cover gaps in financing and assist housing finance agencies. In a continued response to weather-related disasters, during this same time enterprise committed over $589,000 in grants and technical assistance to community organizations leading recovery and rebuilding efforts throughout florida, texas, puerto rico and the u.s. Virgin islands. Lastly, in the course of 2019, partners, in conjunction with its subsidiaries and affiliates, invested approximately $9 billion to create homes, strengthen communities and connect people to opportunity, with 23,000 affordable homes and 52,000 workforce/market rate homes created or preserved.”

“Policy: enterprise works with public and private sectors at the federal, state and local levels to connect people to opportunity, starting with an affordable home. We partner with elected officials and community leaders to promote policies and practices that support housing stability, advance residents' health and well-being, and provide opportunities for economic mobility. Enterprise's federal policy efforts, including 289 congressional visits, supported significant funding increases for many affordable and community development programs in fiscal year 2020 appropriations legislation. Our policy team also publishes research and analyses that inform best practices and the development of sound policies.”
