On august 1, 2022, we sought an official name change to conservation nation from the district of columbia. The updated mission includes continuing funding/support for wildlife conservation science, continuing to educate and inspire the public, and providing opportunities for like-minded organizations to network and problem solve. Form 990, part iii, line 3: discontinued zoo visitor services/volunteers/membership/magazine - the zoo closed to the public on november 23, 2020 to help prevent the spread of covid-19. On february 4, 2021, fonz announced the dissolution of the partnership with nzp/scbi, ramped down and ceased operations at the zoo on may 30, 2021.”

“(launched september 2021) funding: the conservation nation funding programs offer support to help save wildlife and their habitats around the world by building a stronger, more inclusive wildlife conservation community. Our programs provide funding and support of wildlife conservationists from marginalized communities to advance their critical work and opportunities to emerging conservationists that would otherwise be beyond their reach. Programs include grants, internships, scholarships, and fellowships. (launched september 2021) education: conservation nation offers programs to inspire and educate a diverse and inclusive generation of wildlife champions. Our programs focus on youth in middle school and high school and aim to serve those from marginalized communities. We offer programs in formal and non-formal learning environments, both in-person and virtually. Our education programs aspire to develop a student's conservation mindset and ethic; build their confidence and self-efficacy in conservation; prepare a passionate, conservation-proficient workforce; and cultivate future conservation experts and leaders. (launched september 2021) community: conservation nation cultivates an inclusive global community of people and organizations focused on amplifying diverse perspectives in conservation to solve urgent biodiversity challenges. Our unique value is stitching together funding, resources, education, and connections that individuals need to enter, stay, and thrive in conservation.
