Mission

The Mainstream Education Foundation was founded to promote separation of church and state with emphasis placed on public education and religious freedom. Mainstream is a coalition of informed citizens who believe that moderate voices need to be heard in today's political climate. Mainstream stands for common sense and responsible and compassionate ideals. We believe that people with different points of view can come together to forge good government that benefits all citizens. To that end, Mainstream Education Foundation strives to educate the public about issues, legislation, and the importance of voting.

Through the Be A Voter project, interns canvassed door to door from June through November, phone banked and attended community events to educate and engage the community on the importance of voting and to assist them in finding the tools and navigating the system to be a voter.”

“Includes: Database support services; Payroll service fees; Fees for service. Fees for service are to reimburse the Coalition for services rendered by the Coalition on behalf of the Foundation. Mainstream's three full time staff are paid through the Coalition though as much as half of their time is directed toward activities for the MainStream Education Foundation. MainStream's education forums are also conducted through the Coalition as that is the umbrella organization. The technology, rent, equipment and other organizational expenses are paid through the Coalition though about half of their use is directed toward Foundation efforts.”

Some topics have included: public education funding, tax reform and judicial selection. Additionally, MainStream Education Foundation holds an annual dinner (Stand Up Speak Out) to promote the mission and ideas of the Foundation. Almost 700 people came together to donor community members who have stood up and spoken, even when unpopular to do so, in order to better our community and our state.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Through the Be A Voter project, approximately a dozen interns worked during the primary and general election; canvassing door to door, phone banking and attending community events. The interns worked to educate and engage the community on the importance of voting and to assist them in finding the resources and navigating the system to be a voter. There were three main goals: Increase voter turnout in primary elections that tend to have much lower turnout; educate voters about completing the entire ballot not just the top of the tickets and educating voters about how our judicial selection process works.
