Mission and Program Overview

Mission

When people, land, and community are as one, all three members prosper; when they relate not as members but as competing interests, all three are exploited. By consulting nature as the source and measure of that membership, the land institute seeks to develop an agriculture that will save soil from being lost or poisoned, while promoting a community life at once prosperous and enduring.

To develop an agriculture system with the ecological stability of the prairie and a grain yield comparable to that from annual crops.

The preparer of the return sends a copy of the form 990 to the land institute's accountant who reviews the form prior to its filing. The land institute's accountant provides a copy of form 990 to the governing body before it is filed.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

A copy of the conflict of interest policy is given to all board members, staff members or volunteers upon commencement of such person's relationship with the land institute. Each board member, officer, staff member, and volunteer signs and dates the policy at the beginning of his/her term of service. A conflict of interest disclosure form is completed annually by all specified parties. When the board of directors receives disclosure of a possible conflict of interest, the board determines whether or not a conflict of interest exists. If it does exist, the board votes to authorize or reject the transaction or take any other action deemed necessary to address the conflict and protect the land institute's best interests.
