WE WROTE AN AMICUS BRIEF THAT CONTRIBUTED TO A LEGAL VICTORY FOR THE SIONA PEOPLE THAT GUARANTEES THEIR RIGHT TO CONSULTATION OVER THE CREATION OF A NATIONAL PARK (CUEMBI). ADDITIONALLY, AMAZON FRONTLINES BROUGHT A CASE BEFORE THE INTER AMERICAN COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS AROUND THE RIGHTS OF TRANSBORDER INDIGENOUS PEOPLES. AMAZON FRONTLINES CONTINUED TO PLAY A CENTRAL ROLE IN THE ECUADORIAN ALLIANCE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS, INCLUDING HELPING WIN A CASE BEFORE THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF ECUADOR TO PREVENT USE OF LETHAL FORCE BY THE MILITARY DURING CIVIL PROTESTS. DURING THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN, WE CONTINUED TO SUPPORT ONGOING EFFORTS BY COMMUNITY LAND PATROLS AND MAPPING TEAMS BY INSTALLING COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE THAT ALLOWED FOR REMOTE TRAININGS AND FOR LAND PATROLS TO COMMUNICATE OUT ABOUT THREATS AND ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES.
